i was just wondering, is it possible to install rasplex on a normal pc?
here are the details.
i have a thinkpad L520, not the best but it does fine on a day to day basis, it has dual boot with kali linux and windows 8.1 both are running fine, but i hate to have to boot up either of the two OS's just to watch a movie, series or anything else my plex server has access too, so i was wondering if its possible to install rasplex so its a small simple thing it loads to just watch movies and stuff on, instead of a full OS, that i wont need anyway.
either that, or if there is a prefered distro to use for plex clients, where its mainly used for clients, and not much else.
PS:
sorry if this has already been asked/done, did a simple search with no results, and kinda added info as i got on with it.
also here are the specs for the lenovo, in case anyone wants to know.
CPU I3 2310m
RAM 4GB(unsure of any other info so far)
HDD 500GB split into two parts, and a swap, roughly the same size for each.
everything works, and has a 4 hour battery(roughly, only last 3 in windows)

No, it's not possible, Rasplex is for ARM only, why don't you use Plex Home Theatre, which is what Rasplex is, on top of OpenELEC OS.

well for one, it sounds like rasplex is very small in size to install, and works wonders, even with little power. and was just curious, thank you for the answer, i will now install openelec and PHT so i can boot it up to play movies on.
On a pc, you don’t need OpenElec. Just install the correct Plex Home Theater (PHT).

You are correct, and that is what I would do myself too.
But the original poster already stated that he wants to boot the PC for use as media player without making a full OS boot.
So for him that method would not be an acceptable solution.
Personally I wouldn't think it makes that much difference, since OpenELEC is also an OS with some bootup requirements.
It should just be a few seconds faster, unless the other OS's are 'weighed down' by a lot of auto-starting apps and/or background services.
Then again, all delays tend to get multiplied by a high factor for laptop PCs advertised as 'eco-friendly' (== slow).
So what would be just a few seconds on a normal desktop PC, could be a minute or more on such a laptop.
