Blair Witch - 3/10. Pointless, directionless, forgettable retread. Loved Adam Wingard’s last two movies, buy this really stunk. Added nothing new, except for countless ridiculous contrivances and laughably scripted dialog that stick out like a sore thumb in a found footage format.
GOLD, a good Drama adventure with a couple Twists. When considering it was based on a true story and what possible Gold discovery can do to a persons common sense. Matthew McConaughey performance was exhilarating even with his odd hair do. Slow at times but a worthy 7/10
Guess I’m a little slow - had to watch this twice. It’s the kind of movie you need to pay attention to, especially in the beginning. Ok, actually you should pay attention all the way through.
Does he show up at the end? X_X
! - Not a chance, which is another middle finger gesture on his part. I think the same about the the novel he wrote. An allegorical story he wrote about his life, even though she had told him to never write about himself.
!
Amy Adams did fine work as usual, Gyllenhaal was great, Michael Shannon (Iceman (2012) was perfectly cast as the sheriff.
Collateral Beauty Now this is a great movie of a tragedy in life of the worst kind. A solid performance from Will Smith, I did not know at times if I should cry or laugh. The twists in the story held you captivated, supporting actors Helen Mirren, Edward Norton, Keira Kightley, Kate Winslet.
Beauty can come at the worst time.
Watched Doctor Strange (2016) for the 2nd time. Benedict Cumberbatch felt really comfortable in that role and I enjoyed his performance as well as Tilda Swinton’s. The visual effects worked well with the story, at some points reminding me of Inception (exterior city rolling). For someone who doesn’t get too into comic book movies, I found this very enjoyable and the sound was amazing on my new setup (Elac Debut speakers, SVS PB-1000 sub). A solid 8/10.
Me too, I liked Doctor Strange (2016) and mostly its intricate visual effects spectacle that felt like an MC Escher labyrinth at times. Benedict Cumberbatch played superbly as always.
