ReadyNAS Pro 6 has become unstable and regularly hangs

My ReadyNAS Pro has started hanging after running fine for many years.

Currently running firmware 6.9.2 but have had the same problem with the last few versions released.

I’ve tried disabling the four apps I have running, as well as turning off features such as the scheduled snapshotting.

But still, since around November 2017, I’ve found my ReadyNAS will just freeze and needs the power button holding down to shut it off and then press again to start it up.

What sort of things can cause this hanging in the ReadyNAS Pro and what logs can I check to look for any clues?

I cross-posted this same question over at the Netgear ReadyNAS community forum a while ago but didn’t get very far.

The hanging of the NAS box every other day is driving me insane now as Plex is always offline when I want to watch something

I’ve had Plex server app turned off now for 16 days and my ReadyNAS has remained up and responsive.

What things could I be looking at on the ReadyNAS and/or Plex logs to try and determine the cause that crashes my ReadyNAS after Plex has been running for a short while?

Hi ! I also have a ReadyNAS Pro 6 (upgraded to 4GB RAM and E7600 intel CPU) (now running 6.10.1 ReadyNAS OS and I experience exactly the same after installing Plex (I did not had Plex before on this device). I tried 3 different versions of Plex and with all hangs after about 24 hours (or faster if I do use Plex to stream media). After uninstalling Plex it become again stable. I suspect some memory leak.

I gave up in the end and spent even more money on a QNAP NAS which is working perfect.
Still need to sell my ReadyNAS Pro 6 though!
