Really bad bug!

To be fair that’s a little harsh.
Also it’s only a Plex problem if it’s reproducible by several users.
Beyond that logs will be required.
I get the frustration though when things don’t work as expected.

Well, unless you state your lib setup, and scanner setup - useless info - since im sure its actually broken in the software, but its always the same in this forum - loads of people that knows all - but cant fix what peoples problem is - all good - nevermind - and “funny info” just reproduced it on another server - setup diff than mine - 100% same problem - but o.c. its just me … all good… no need to reply - plex is getting useless

Naa, you didn’t provide any of that info. Just the scenario. I followed it and it works on my end. Maybe if you provide the more in depth analysis I can configure something as such and re-test.

its all good - ill stop using the forum - never found ONE solution here - and never got heard on ONE bug - so …

Thanks for replying anyway

Ill code my own fix - like so many times before

Let’s curb it down a notch (all). People are trying to help you based on very little information in your OP / follow-up posts – it’s hard to guess what configuration might be same as yours.

If help is “its working as it should” - then sure … loads of help … all good … plex is just broken one more place … not the only place … so thanks for replying

To sum up - if anyone in coding jobs in plex wants info:

same lib - 2 locations - running “upgradede matching” untouched in settings

TV-show

Moving from one location to the other location in this lib = losing watched status

so all settings in lib are stock.

Thanks - use it or dont - its facts and its broken.

Have fun

PS: with no empty trash on scan and so on …

My library settings are stock too using “Plex TV Series” as the scanner and agent. Make sure all your directory permissions are set correctly.

its windows - so it can do what it needs to - and my scanner is the same

Try rolling back to the last know working version of PMS and test. If it’s still broken on the last known working version you might have database corruption. If older version works fine then upgrade again and reproduce the problem then post your logs. Note the timeframe you reproduce to make reading the logs a little easier. Make sure DEBUG logging is turned on but VERBOSE is off.

That’s not a requirement!

It will share status between items if -

  • The files were matched using the same agent, and
  • They’re matched to the same items, so that
  • The items have the same guid

View the XML info for a show in two different Libraries. Compare the first guid value for the movie/episode in each Library. That’s the value that’s used to track state.

If items in an old Library have not had Upgrade Matching performed, they may still be using the guid from an old agent.

Upgrade Matching will fetch a new-style guid, and will also migrate watch status to that new guid.

I’m having the exact same issue, same circumstances too. Renaming a file and boom, unwatched.
