Really bad bug!

Problem is this:

TV-Show - i had 2 (with subs and without) - i add´d another (staying series)

So i take serie i was watching from one tv-show cat. to another tv-show cat.

Then it forgets i ever seen anything of the show - this have to be a HUGE bug - since ive done this so many times before - seems its same now with movies - before if i moved movie from my “ill check” cat. to “staying movie” - it say i have not seen the movie - so a bug that forgets you seen something, if moved from cat. to another - thats a HUGE FAIL!!!

Please fix this ASAP

It should use titel to keep track of seen or not - and it used to … somebody must have changed it - change it back!

To sum up - if anyone in coding jobs in plex wants info:

same lib - 2 locations - running “upgradede matching” untouched in settings

TV-show

Moving from one location to the other location in this lib = losing watched status

so all settings in lib are stock.

Thanks - use it or dont - its facts and its broken.

Have fun

PS: with no empty trash on scan and so on …

Nothing else will be posted - its a bug - fix it or dont

Not quite sure I follow your issue… you moved files between folders (or libraries?) and they’re losing their history / watched status?

There’s a detailed procedure on how to do that to make sure nothing gets lost in the process. Not aware of any bugs or huge fails.

if you do it - just like that - leave old, make new and copy, and wait so scan and so on … when you remove the old location - all is lost - you have not seen it - and its not always been like that - so yes its a problem!

i have serie “insert some name” in 2 diff. locations - copied it over by the book - its there and in the old location - in the old location - its all good - i need to watch the last 2 episodes - in the new location - i havent seen even one episode. - so again … its broken

This can happen if the old and new location use different agents.
e.g. your old tv-show library used the legacy TMDb or TVDb agents while the new one is using the Plex Series agent. You should make sure to either use the same agent or force the old library to be updated to the new one before moving.

Nope, thats not it - its 100% same settings

tested over and over - its still in org. location with a delete mark on, so trash not empty … but in new location with 100% same settings - its unseen … this is just a joke … and a bad one! … so now i need to be 100% sure i never have to move stuff around, unless i want all the kids “seen and not seen” to be reset - PLEASE FIX THIS!

Running “upgraded matching” - problem might be in there? - but the locations run 100% same settings!

Plex will not track watched status between libraries. It will however track status in single libraries. You can totally movie a file from one folder to another folder on different drives as long as they are both mapped to the SAME library.

Nope - its broken now - its mapped in the same lib

If that definitely the case? Back in the day when I kept a 4K copy and 1080p copy in separate libraries, I’m fairly sure watched status used to be updated between the two.

Yeah its been like that before for me too - i could move stuff around - never lost watched status back then - now moving them even with 100% same settings - cant be done from lib to lib or location to location (not matter if same lib or not) - all in all - all moving files = watched status lost - but like all other bugs … people just claims your doing it wrong … its kindda a joke, maybe just stop messing up plex - put all these new features in a “all in all plex app” and let the rest of us get back to MEDIA and not all that other crap

I just played a 1080p movie in the “Movies” library then fast forwarded it to half way so it shows up and gives the resume option. I then rescanned “Movies” and “UHD Movies” The 4k version of the same movie in a different library is not tracking the same watch status. There’s no resume option on the 4k one even after a scan.

Also, I just moved a fairly popular show that’s watched on my server a lot to a secondary folder so there were two locations for the files both mapped to the same library. Re-scanned and both locations show up. I then deleted the first location and emptied trash/rescanned. All watch status was retained. I then renamed the copy to the original folders name. Re-scanned and all watch status is still retained. Same library.

Well not working at all - nowhere close to the way here - running newest beta - so dont really help me

I am running 1.24.0.4897.

Still - dont help me that it works for you - when it dont work here - even all “solutions” tried

there are like 500 diff. setup variations in setting up a lib - so unless its a match to how mine is setup - it dont really matter and dont help since a statement “it works” dont help anyone - lib setup / scanner setup and all that - well that might help - “it works” - dont help so much

Well you never provided that info. I just followed what you’re trying to do. You should definitely provide that info and then tag a Plex employee.

Just stop replying to stuff where you dont help. - its broken - end of story - why? - its plex that needs to figure that out

besides - you tested movies - i clearly stated its SERIES … so leave answering to people that can fix it, please.

I tested both if you re-read.

Correction: it will track status between libraries if it’s the same filename.
