Recent update is causing AAC to be unsupported and transcoding on Sony A95L android tv client

Server Version#: Version 1.32.7.7621
Player Version#: Plex for Android 10.5.0.4928-beta

Hello I believe I have been running into a similar issue as:

Recently I have been noticing playback issues when running content I haven’t had issues before. I found that I was converting AAC 5.1 to OPUS 5.1 on content that previously did not need to be transcoded. I have a sony a95l with android/google tv with a surround system passed through HDMI eARC. I tried experimenting with the passthrough options to try to get a fix but I only triggered Plex to convert AAC to EAC3 instead of OPUS. I eventually tried downloading the latest beta with no luck. I believe this might have started happening with the 10.4.0 release.

Can you provide the android logs so we can see why it thinks it needs to transcode.

Attached is the log. I had trouble saving it to my files since I am on my phone. Time I initiated the AAC playback should be on 12-2 around 23:06. Hope this helps.

As an update I was still seeing this. I ended up “disabling” Audio passthrough (from HDMI) and it stopped transcoding. I assumed that I needed to have HDMI passthrough enabled, but I guess I was wrong, my bad.
