Recently added album has "one year ago" as its added date

Server Version#: 4.129.1

After adding some new albums to PMS, one of them wasn’t in my “recently added” list. After looking for it, I found it right next to another album with the same added date as the surrounding albums.

Relevant information:

The album in question is a remake of an album, both by the same artist. The original is called “Harakiri for the Sky”, while the remake is called “Harakiri for the Sky MMXXII”.

I assume this has something to do with it, and seems like a bug.

It means that the remake was not recognized as a separate item, but just as a duplicate of the existing, older version.
Such cases are difficult to handle.
Your best bet is to enable “prefer local metatags” in the properties of the library.
However, that also requires your meta tags to be accurate and complete.

I’ve added a screenshot to show the two items as presented when trying to rematch the new one.

The date is wrong (should be 2022, but that’s probably just the database, not Plex at fault), but aside from that, they look like separate items.

More importantly, the two albums show up as separate albums in PMS. The recent album doesn’t show as an alternate version of the original.

This is not to say that you’re wrong. I’m trying to figure out why Plex is treating two dissimilar albums as separate albums in all respects, except for the date when they were added to Plex.
