I’m having issues with the metadata for recently added items not being correctly updated. Here is the XML entry for the recently released movie “Air”. Unfortunately I don’t know the format of the added date element. But it’s definitely not in the right place when sorting.
I have tired adding the library again but it didn’t help. Checked the file properties and the dates are correct (see attached)
The number in addedAt= resolves to Sat, 17 Jun 2023 13:48:09 GMT which is certainly plausible.
Take a look at the other items in “Recently Added” which are sorted before this item.
That timestamp is certainly plausible, but it’s not correct as you can see from the file properties screenshot.
I believe it is the plex updates that are corrupting the added dates. I just checked one of the items that appears ahead of the one previously mentioned, and it resolves to: GMT : Saturday, June 17, 2023 1:54:58 PM
even though the file is many years old and has an added date in Windows of:
Wednesday, November 21, 2012, 3:42:22 PM
Newly added items appear correctly, at the top of the sort, however, every subsequent plex update seems to mix everything up.
Here is an example:
“Extraction” was recently added (6 hours ago), right after I updated plex to the latest version. All the old movies that follow show an added date that seems to be update date -1.
Sorta. After installing a Plex update, old movies show up at the front of my queue, yes. However, Extraction was added after the update was installed (6hrs ago) and is correctly displayed. If i update plex, then Extraction will get reshuffled along with the old movies. Hope that makes sense.
I will try the thing you mentioned but I’ll have to wait for the next plex update to confirm.
Honestly, I’ve never seen this issue specifically regarding updates. Most often what happens is a drive with media on it isn’t accessible or hasn’t spun up yet when Plex scans the library. Plex sees that the movie as missing and it gets deleted with the trash being emptied
When the drive is accessible again the same item gets scanned in as if it’s new, and it pops back to the front of recently added
Because I’ve never heard of this due to updates, I don’t have any suggestions on how to remedy that outside of deselecting that option
I know people have experimented editing the database manually but I personally wouldn’t advise doing that
The only other thing I can think of is to post your logs and see if you have any sort of database damage
