I recently blew away my Plex database to fix that stupid duplicate library problem, since nothing else worked. Ever since doing that though, I’m having this weird UI problem. When I go into the server admin page, here is how things are displayed:
Continue Watching
On Deck
Recently Added Movies
Recently Added TV
It USE to be:
Continue Watching
On Deck
Recently Added TV
Recently Added Movies
I can fix this for a few days/weeks by editing the ‘Movies’ library and un-checking the ‘Include in Dashboard’ option then re-checking it. After doing that, Recently Added Movies is on bottom again. But after a few days/weeks, it reverts and Recently Added Movies goes into the # 3 slot and Recently Added TV drops to the bottom (4th) slot.
This same switch is on all my Plex clients too. It’s not some major problem but everyone in my house has gotten use to Recently added TV being before Recently added Movies.
After blowing away my Plex server and adding my libraries back, I added Movies first and I think this is what screwed me. Is there a way to hard code which order libraries show up in the UI?
Or, should I delete my ‘Movie’ library and re-add it? (I’m fine with letting Plex scan my movies and download meta-data again.)
Hmmmm… maybe you’re onto something. I checked just now and added some TV shows and sure enough, TV shows are back in slot # 3. While I’m not 100% positive, I don’t remember this happening before I nuked my old install. I could have sworn that TV shows were always in slot # 3!!!
Oh sorry dont know about the apple tv, but on the iphone, at the bottom of the home screen, there is a ‘home screen settings’ button to arrange home screen.
In case there’s any lingering doubts, Plex Web does appear to bump the last modified library to the top of the dashboard as of late. In practice, this would seem useful when adding multiple files, to have them close in case you need to correct matching errors or the like. The weird part is that this is done automatically, and unlike the client apps—which have some “customize” option somewhere—there’s no reason to expect this behavior from the web app, and the abrupt reordering may be disorienting for some users.
In any event, this is probably part of the web interface revamps that were announced on the latest server updates. I noticed this change a few nights ago, since I’ve been adding different types of media during the week, and the dashboard items have been rearranged continuously throughout.
