Recently, I moved PMS to another VM. The move was successful and did not see any changes. Now, after some time has passed, my Recently Added Movies section is showing all movies in my library and they’re sorted by Title? I don’t see any option to sort these properly. Any suggestions?
Logs: Not sure what I would be looking for.
PMS version: 1.22.2.4282
Edit: As I look more into this, it seems like my entire was marked as recently added. However, the ‘Played’ mark was not reset.
Edit 2: When I review the folder of the Movies, the date on each media folder is correct, in terms of ‘Date created’.
You can’t sort a recently added row. It is coded to show things based on the date they were added.
What I am asking is if when you do sort your movie library by “Date Added” is it also wrong since that should be using the same logic that creates the recently added row.
Sorting by ‘Date Added’ in Movies produces the same. I did receive a notification in early morning that movies were added. Now it makes sense… Some how, all my movies have been re-added to PMS and PMS changed the date. Why the heck would this have occurred? I have backups… What of the backups could I restore to get back the original Date Added dates back?
The only thing I can think of off hand is that the location the movies are stored PMS did not have access to, then a library scan happened so it thought nothing was there and if “empty trash after every scan” was enabled it would have removed everything from database. then the server got access again and it added everything as new. but that is only a guess as if PMS looses access to an entire folder set for the library then it has logic to know not to empty db
Ah, that makes sense. My PMS is on a Guest VM and the media is on my Host. It’s very likely there could be a disconnection. That said, I’ve had this setup for some time. If nothing else, I’ll flip off that empty trash setting. Too bad it’s all-or-nothing; it would be nice to pick some other schedule for this task. I’ll do a restore and check this… I’ll report back herein. Thanks!
Edit: Restoring worked. I had been trying to restore the DB in my backup on my Host, not the backups in the Guest VM
I’m still puzzled that we cannot set some other schedule for emptying the Trash… The only options are either not at all, or immediately following a scan.
I went through the restore DB process… I had 3 backups, going back well before the changes occurred. I cannot get the original Recently Added Movies list or Date Added in Movies to correct itself. It continues to be presented as if all my movies were re-added. Funny thing… The Played mark is still correct. Is that particular info stored elsewhere?
