Hi everyone,
Can anyone help me with an issue where my Recently Added list for my TV library seems to be ‘stuck’ at a point in the previous few months, and the new items that I’ve added to my TV library since then don’t show in the Recently Added list until/unless I do a “Scan Library Files” action on the TV library. The newer additions show correctly in the Recently Added after a scan, but it’s not persistent and if I close/reopen the Plex Web/Plex For Windows App clients then the newer items disappear from Recently Added again and won’t appear until the Scan Library Files is done again.
- The incorrect Recently Added view I see (showing older items in the TV Recently Added section) whenever opening a Plex client:
- The correct Recently Added view I see after doing a Scan Library Files on the TV library, but which does not persist whenever the Plex client is closed/re-opened:
Should add that my Recently Added section for Films is fine and opens correctly with newest additions to the library every time, so it’s just my Recently Added TV items that have some kind of error.
Please can anybody advise how I can fix this issue?
I am also having the same issue. Bumping the topic for some help from a Plex Team Member!

It’s been a week and there haven’t been any member suggestions to help solve this issue, so please could I tag in @BigWheel, @anon18523487 or any other Plex team member who might be able to help with the above?
Thanks very much in advance, ladies/gents.
Go to the library and change the view to “Episode” and the sort to “Date Added”. Underneath each episode should have the time when it was added. Does the order match what you expect or does it match the wrong one?

Thanks for the reply. I’ve had a look and yes, the individual episodes do all have a Date Added flag that lines up with my expectation, and which corresponds to the ‘correct’ homepage view after I do a “Scan Library Files” action on the TV library.
Ok, can you now change the view from Episodes to TV Show and the sort again to Date Added. Does this match your wrong order or totally different?

The TV Library looks correct when I change the view from Episodes to Seasons and then sort again by Date Added. If I change view from Episodes/Seasons to TV Shows and then sort by Date Added you can’t really tell, because some of my recent additions have been new seasons of shows that I first added early seasons of years ago, and it looks like the view in TV Shows (when sorted by Date Added) is sorting by the date of the earliest episode added rather than the latest.
So looks like everything is correct and the issue is something on the Home Page. Can you enable debug logging for the Plex Web client, then browse back to the Home Page, then download the log and attach it to your next comment.

Wrong log. I want the web logs.

You are using the locally embedded Plex Web. Can you try the hosted one and see if that still happens?

Sorry, don’t quite understand the terminology here, please can you let me know what to do? Thanks!
Plex Media Server comes with a version of the Plex Web client. You access that when you use 127.0.0.1 or the server’s local IP address. Plex also hosts/provides the latest version of the Plex Web client from our website. You access that through https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/. The version with PMS can be a few versions behind so it’s always a good idea to check with the latest version from plex.tv incase it’s already been fixed.

Thanks for that. Just gone to my Homepage of my server via the plex.tv web client you linked in your post. Had a pop-up message about upgrading my libraries to new metadata agents and clicked the option to enable that but I unchecked the Refresh All Metadata checkbox as I think I’ll want to do that individually to make sure I retain my chosen artwork etc on an indiviual show basis.
Enabled Debugging again in the settings and attached the logs here. Please let me know if I’ve got the wrong logs, but hopefully this is the right one! Log v2.txt (4.4 KB)
So you see the same mixed up order?

Yes, it seems to be the same as on my local server, latest added items still don’t show in Recently Added until a Scan Library Files is performed.
Ok, so from your previous log it shows that the app found 2 local connections to your “Leet” server. Obviously one of these is wrong. Likely an old IP that is no longer valid. I’m guessing that it is showing the info from the wrong one which would explain why it is an older list, but then after you do stuff, it switches to the valid one.
My suggestion is to go to the Server Settings, under the Network tab, find the “Preferred network interface” and make sure it is set to the proper IP for your server. Then restart PMS. Load Plex Web and if the page still looks wrong, do a hard refresh (ctrl + F5).

Thansk for that. I’ve just tested with both of the saved IP addresses under “Preferred network interface” (selected one of the two IP addresses, restarted PMS, then loaded Plex Web and done the hard Ctrl+F5 refresh), and I’m still experiencing the original issue with both addresses. Is there anything else we can try from here?
Do you have 2 active network connections?
Yep, the local machine that the Leet server is run on has a cabled ethernet and a wifi connection to my router.
Are you only use 1 at a time or both simultaneously? The latter isn’t going to work well with PMS. In fact, running PMS through WiFi is a bad idea all around.
