Recently Aired TV Slow to load on Roku 3

Hi Everyone,

I recently moved my plex server from a mac mini to a Windows PC tower (Xeon). Everything went without a hitch server wise. Client wise however, no so great. When loading MORE under “Recently Aired Tv” on the roku 3, it takes a good 30 seconds to load (which feels like an eternity to my girlfriend). This was pretty much a fresh install, however I did do the following:

  • moved my recently watched database from Mac to PC
  • using MacDrive so I would not have to reformat my disks

Here is what I have done to troubleshoot the issue so far

  • repaired database as per the Plex wiki instructions
  • excluded Norton Anti Virus from scanning “C:\Users<edited>\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server”
  • Uninstalled Norton AntiVirus completely (temporarily)
  • Optimized database and Cleaned Bundles via Plex Web
  • Disabled Windows Defender
  • Restarted router

The issue occurs on my girlfriends Roku (stick) as well. This did not happen when I was on the Mac Mini, so I am sort of lost as to what to do next.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I also observed the the behavior of the roku plex app will change slightly depending on what plex screensaver you have enabled. For example, if you have a “blank” screensaver on, the app will eventually quit (or crash) back to the roku home screen. If you have the “floating” plex logo screen saver, it does not appear to happen. Also, the issue described initially (lag) is not as long with the “floating” plex. Sounds like there is some sort of memory leak?
