Plex has worked fine for years. Left for a month and now tv shows won’t download past 33%, but movies are fine. I’ve not changed anything aside from not using plex for month of December. Have reinstalled both plex and roku, no luck. Any help? Only seems to affect tv shows and series. All movies work fine, quickly to 100%. Thanks
Is it just the Roku or other players too, like the web app or mobile apps? Without knowing anything about your set up I would guess potentially a corrupt database but be maybe Roku logs might shed some light
I’ve downloaded plex on iPhone and seems to work via the iPhone app if that helps.
I posted on roku and they state plex is having issues with their player apps recently.
Is there more info that I can provide on the system that would help diagnose? Everything has been working fine for years , and everything is the same. All I did was leave town and not use either for month of December.
Internet is Soectrum. No change there either but could that be it? Guess that would affect phone app as well.
What is corrupt database? TV shows and movies on same, would it only affect tv shows? Movies fine
Thanks
only part of the database may be corrupt. it could only affect one library.
the server logs can have info on a corrupt/malformed database if it detected it.

I have been seeing the same thing. Seems to only be on Roku. Same files played just fine with nvidia shield, plex web, and the android app. Seems to be on files with a mpeg4 codec. I can get the files to play if play them at a lower quality. Seems to have started in the last week after I updated the server to 1.30.2.6563
I agree with your findings live TV is doing the same thing. Started after the most recent server update. It goes to 33% then sometimes dropped down to zero and then goes all the way to 100 within a few seconds.
I disabled “Use hardware acceleration when available” and the issue went away.
Does anyone have an update from Support on this? I don’t see that the issue is listed as being addressed in the release from 2/1.
This bug was introduced in 1.30.2.6563.
Can confirm this is NOT resolved in 1.31.0.6654.
the hardware acceleration issue is being looked into. I will need to recheck it as I though it was only related to some NAS devices that run the server…
Can I ask what operating system you are running server on.
Unraid in a docker container.
I am also using Unraid
I’m also seeing this issue. For me, the 33% error is showing up when the file has HEVC 8-bit depth and AAC encoding. Not a problem with HEVC 10-bit. And not on Web/Chrome. Only on Roku. Latest Roku OS, latest Plex client on Roku. My PMS is 1.30.2.6563 on Linux.
Not a problem a couple of weeks ago.
I anyone can provide the roku logs it would be appreciated.
I turned on remote logging, and tried to play a file I was able to play 3 weeks ago with no issues. Stuck at 33% and times out with an error.
Roku doesn’t seem to expose that Settings…Advanced…Logging menu anymore. I’m running Roku v 11.5.0 build 4312-30. Just going to the ip:port doesn’t work either.
@tphillippe Were you looking the the Roku settings or the settings in the Plex app on the Roku? Need to do this in the Plex app.
@BigWheel , I was able to get the logging working this morning. will try to recreate the issue and send logs tonight.
@mfelch: I didn’t think so or maybe I misunderstood what I read here: https://support.plex.tv/articles/201377603-roku-logs/
I rolled back to PMS 1.30.1.6562 and the issue still persists.
My experience:
- It occurs with files with video profile=main and bit depth=8 (but not when profile=MAIN 10 and bit depth=10 )
- It only occurs on Roku playing from Plex remote, NOT locally
- It doesn’t occur on any other Plex clients I’ve seen. Works fine from Web player, Android Client, iOS client, Google TV.
Most annoying thing ever. Wasted waaaay to much time trying to figure this out, and no support help either side. Purchased fire stick for $22, problem solved.
Disappointed with Roku, to say the least. Couldn’t even bother to help me. Sucks.
Fire stick on sale for $22 if it helps anyone else.
