If you are running PMS on Windows, PlexSentry might be worth putting on. As the dev of this has a requirement of IIS on the machine it’s a bit limited on what devices it can run on. This one can set limits on the individual user. Concurrent sessions, transcoding are two things I think that can be limited with the app. If this were done in Python it could be run on a lot more devices, but not sure if the Dev is even working on this, ATM.
Plex Request looks pretty cool, and soon the Dev of that is going to be releasing a Python version, we hope. When he gets this converted over, every device that can run PMS should be able to run the app. This allows the users to request movies or TV shows that the admin doesn’t already have, and if he’s got the apps, it can go out and download those movies or shows automatically. Or generate an email or other notification for the admin to start looking in the discount bins.
Then there’s a newish app Plexy. This is a combination of PlexRequest and a ticketing system, to notify the admin of problems with specific media, from the looks of it. The user makes a request, the Admin has to do the searching himself. And if the user encountered some problems while streaming, it can get reported to the admin to take a look at that file. It has some requirements for installing that limit the platforms that it can be used on. Until this gets made in a strictly Python version it’s going to be hard to get a lot of support, I fear. It looks sweet, but that’s just his demo I’ve seen.
Then there are a few other apps out there that are somewhat strange… There’s Plex Auto-Delete script, which deletes the media after it has been watched. Something that I think is a complete waste, IMO, but others use it. Not sure what the requirements for it are, as it’s not something I would ever run… I took the time to download it, convert it to Direct Playable format, I’m going to hang on to it for a while. Just my $.02 worth, though…
If you want lighting control, PlexWink looks like it may work well for some lighting systems. And then there is a PlexHue app somewhere as well, I think I saw, someplace, but that might very well be scripts that can be called in PlexPy…
There are a lot of other apps out there, and this just hits a small percentage of them. You already have one of the most important ones running right now, with PlexPy.
