Recommended software to rip blu rays

I am very new here and I am learning. Is there a recommended software tool to rip blu rays and dvds. Specifically I want to know if there is a good tool that will rip a tv show dvd as individual episodes. I started on one set today and went I went to disk two of season one I realized it wanted to overwrite since it made the first half of the season into one movie.

You won’t find much beyond this support article on Plex.

Some discs have multiple episodes in one file. Hopefully with chapter markers for each episode.

When this happens, use MKVToolNix to separate the file into individual episodes.

Plex supports multiple episodes per file, but you’ll be happier with splitting them into multiple episodes. See the Naming & Organizing document linked below.

I find Handbrake quite useful here. It’s also available for Mac.

I use HB too - after I rip out what I want, strip search it, label it, tag it - BEFORE it goes to Handbrake, 'cause HB needs all the help it can get in those areas. If you’re not careful HB can mess up a good thing.

Once you have the files in hand - and can see what they are - the rest is a breeze.

It’s also a good thing to MakeMKV first, 'cause Discs have a bad habit of playing fine in a DVD/BluRay Player and failing miserably in your Drive. I’d rather find out there’s an issue during a 10 minute rip, than in the last 15 minutes of a 4 hour encode.
