I would request that Plex add a recording indication live onto the system tray icon. Maybe have the Plex icon show a small red dot on it to indicate a recording is in progress. This is important because I have unloaded the service to do maintenance or update when recordings were in progress. A small red dot in the corner of the system tray icon during recordings would be very helpful.
Another similar suggestion would be to add a small checkmark or other indication to the same system tray icon when users are viewing Plex content. This lets the manager/operator of the server know that users are live on the system so he/she doesn’t unload the service or do something that might affect their viewing experience. Again, another suggestion that when Plex is ‘active’ recording or serving content, you can see by just checking the system tray icon instead of loading the app and checking.
