Recordings from HD sources are made at 720p instead of 1080p

Is there a way to get the DVR to record in 1080p native from the HDHomerun? It seems to record in 720p even though the channel/source is 1080p and we can watch live channels in 1080p. As my players and TV’s all go to 4k the transcoding from 720p up to 1080p is grainy. As I start going to 4k native on the equipment the transcode from 720 to 4k will be a heavy lift and will undoubtedly be of poor quality. Is there anything I can do to get it up to a higher native resolution? Space is not an issue.

Are you recording via OTA? There are no 1080p broadcasters. 1080i yes.

Yes. My question is the live broadcast is 1080. Why does the system force the recording down to 720?

Well of course there are 1080p50 Broadcasts. Or at least it may depend on the country.
