Redirect http to https when Plex is on required

Hello,

I have Plex set to enforce SSL on my Synology NAS with own FQDN & certificate, which works fine.

I noticed however that when launching Plex from inside DSM, it launches the HTTP page which does not respond. I read somewhere that the URL cannot be changed, which is fine.

I wonder though, why doesn’t Plex simply redirect HTTP to HTTPS when Plex is set to require HTTPS? This would make Plex clickable from inside DSM and would automatically redirect any HTTP-attempt to HTTPS.

Is this something that is impossible to do or involves security risks?

Kenneth

Yes, I figured it couldn’t be changed which is fine. Thanks for explaining that.

So my original question: can’t Plex, as software, not simply redirect all HTTP requests to their HTTPS counterpart to enforce SSL instead? Many websites & platforms do the same thing to allow people to access their platform when http is (incorrectly) assumed at first.
