Refresh metadata split an album into many

Server Version#: 1.18.2.2058 FreeBSD
Player Version#: 4.18.1

On one of my albums for some reason the 01, 02, 03, etc were included in the name of the song in Plex so decided to try changing 01 - song.flac to 01 song.flac since it worked with my other songs and I thought my naming was wrong. Refresh metadata did nothing so I moved the files out, scanned library, moved them back, scanned library and now suddenly this album not only still has the numbers in the song names, but now each song is an individual album and it clearly isn’t getting the data from lastfm since the dates are 2020. What’s even more weird about this is the LAST song of the album doesn’t have the number issue, and I can refresh metadata on that album and it’ll change the dates on all the rest of the songs. Completely at a loss.

Please show how the files are tagged.
Particularly the content of the “album artist” and “album title” tags.
Do also verify that “track number” tags are filled. If some tracks have a “disc number” tag, then all tracks need one. Same goes for a multi-disc album.

Are all tracks in flac format? Make sure they are tagged only with Vorbis tags and not with ID3 tags.

Sorry for the late response…insane weekend with work and other events

As for tagging, it doesn’t exist. They’re just gone. They used to be tagged properly but not anymore. All the tracks are flac. I may rip the album again to see if that helps. I recall k3b being stupid when I ripped this album. I’ll use cdda2wav and use ffmpeg to convert it to flac like I have for some of my recent albums which haven’t experienced this issue

Do you mean in Plex or gone from the files themselves?

Sorry for the inaccurate language. The tags in Plex are missing. It’s able to get the right album art but that’s it. Everything else is nonexistent

Do your files have embedded metatags?

No. I used metaflac to verify and there are no metatags

I’d like to note that even the files that don’t exhibit any issues also don’t have any metatags

If this album doesn’t exist on musicbrainz.org you have to have embedded metatags in your files. There is no way around it.

Sad…it isn’t on there. Which is also remarkable because the album is from 2017 and the artist is much more notable than another guy of the same label who just had an album put out in November

Hang on. I did a bad job at reading. I think I see where the issue is. I see DATE=-1 and TRACKNUMBER=-1 on these files…that could be the problem
