Regarding last weeks plex outage why could I not still use it in home

With reference to the Plex outage last week I was very surprised that I couldn’t still use plex within my home network.
why did the outage stop it from personally working at home?
So basically not internet and I completely loose the use of my plex server and player is that right?

… and here is a detailed User post (VERY Detailed) regarding using Plex while the internet is out - which also works while Plex.tv is down as it turns out:

Hat’s off to @sekthree for the community contribution.

None of which made a bit of difference for me. It was still not accessible even from the very server it is hosted on.

I love how people on here post this when they know damn well that it didn’t resolve anything in the latest outage for the majority of users.

I know nothing of the sort and if a majority of 2 million users (+/-) got the Plex Rug pulled out from under 'em - this forum would be inaccessible.

If you want to resolve your issue you need to stay right here with one of the few Official Plex Team Members that can help you do it:

What does that have to do with Plex being inaccessible even from the very server it is being hosted on?

Ask @ChuckPa

In the thread dealing with the issue:

Again, what does that have to do with server side issues?

Guess this is my cue to step in and take a bullet :face_with_raised_eyebrow: lol

Plex is designed to be always connected to the master servers at plex.tv
They contain all the authentication and all the entitlement/settings flags to your account . (PlexPass, etc)

When it goes down, so does your authentication. Unfortunately, it’s like our AppleTV and other 100% slave devices.

This can be somewhat mitigated

You can change the authentication requirement for all devices on your LAN

Settings - Server - Show Advanced; at the bottom.
