Is there also an image available to boot from USB, like described in the link below? Or any instructions on how to get it to work with RasPlex?
program_usb_boot_mode=1
to the end of
/boot/config.txt
Looks like everything else is on the USB drive itself, and unrelated to the SD card.
My Pi is already up to date! I will give it a try. I should have test first before asking. But was really waiting for this option as Raspbian works great from USB. Little bit to enthusiastic I think!
Sorry for a couple of what I am sure are stupid questions - new to Rasplex after enjoying OpenPHT so muchâŠ
I flashed the SD card with Rasplex 1.8.0 with no problems and installed Aeon Nox, again no issues. Amazed how easy it was. Great work.
My questions are minor. How do I stack episodes in recently added? I read that it was a new feature but canât for the life of me figure out how to turn it on.
Also I read that there should be an option to update the software under system but I canât see it? Edit: figured both out in the end!
I updated to 1.8.0 but have gone back to 1.7.x because RasPlex wouldnât play .mp4 files with external forced subtitles, Plex on PS4 played the exact same files as did RasPlex after I reinstalled 1.7.x. All movies are already transcoded by Handbrake before adding to my Plex library so RasPlex is just playing direct.
Iâm back to 1.8.0, itâs working fine with my set up after I did a clean install onto a Micro SD Card instead of using the update via the Pre-Release channel built into RasPlex.

Just had some time to test and everything is working fine with the new release. Thank you guys! Great job.
If someone want to boot a pi3 from USB, make sure you update your pi firmware to enable the option. Then simply flash the img to a usb3 stick and edit the cmdline to boot=/dev/sda1 disk=/dev/sda2 quiet ssh.
Hi,
I tried the âgetRasplexâ installer to format my SD-card. That didnât work, I get the colored Raspberry screen, but there it hangs.
So I used the terminal to install Plex on the SD-card. Same result. The SD-card is renamed to âLIBRELECâ.
Before, I used that card to run LibreELEC Kodi and that worked perfect.
What can I try next?
(I have an RPI3, without any modifications like DACâs). HMDI connection to flat-screen TV. Official power supply from Raspberry.)

There is nothing wrong the âlatestâ âgetRasplexâ if that is what you were using ?
@edjonesy said: @Taxicletter perhaps the SD card needs reformatting, I donât know for sure, but maybe it wonât work if the card is already named âLIBRELECâ
getRasplex formats the sd card for you as part of the installation
and it also names the sd card LIBRELEC
I assume this is because rasplex is built on LIBRELEC
After upgrading, the only frequencies available in settings are 59.94hz and 60hz. Before i could also pick 23.97hz and 24hz among many others. Does anyone know why?
With this new release i couldnât play any .VOB (MPEG2) files. I was getting the ââPlease check that the file exists and the necessary drive is mounted.ââ error. I installed the old 1.7.1 version and everything plays (transcodes) again as normal.
