This release brings lots of improvements to the playback engine backported from Kodi Jarvis 16.1.
It is also the first release where OpenPHT and RasPlex is truly merged into one shared code base.
RasPlex is now more of a branding of the OpenPHT-Embedded builds for Raspberry Pi devices.
Important new features includes the addition of mmal decoding and support for installing/updating skins directly from the select skin dialog.
Big thanks to the beta and skinning teams for making this release the best one to date!

Get Rasplex, Choose Windows if that’s the OS running your HTPC. rPI2 version works for rPI3.

after update and reboot i see only the “Rainbow screen”… waiting 5 minutes, nothing… hard restart… rainbow again…
Same here. @NedtheNerd , I was on rpi2 image for my rpi3, and used update from within rasplex, didn’t flash myself.
I think the update just uses rpi1 image …

I can confirm the same issue with rpi2 image on rpi3. After the update only the Rainbow screen is shown.
Seems to be an issue with update server, which includes GetRasplex, please download the appropriate image from GitHub and flash using GetRasplex, using select file and choose the file you downloaded. Our apologies.
How do I see my RasPlex has updated? I checked the “About” in system settings where it says version devel-20160301002139-r20398-gbbe0cee is installed and the preferences where it says version 1.0.3.
Both on Stable and Pre-release it says no updates available… Is is already updated then or do I need to download the image and install my SD card manually?

Something is wrong with the autoupdate. Please reflash your sd card with the new image manually.
Hello,
probably not the right place to say this but…
Before installing Rasplex 1.6.0 (I have 1.0.3) I decided to make a backup of the configuration. So from the UI I went to System Settings->System->Create System and OpenHT Backup.
That is a great thing.
The only issue is that it backups also caches and thumbnails, that are not necessary since they will be recreated when (if) needed.
So in the next version could you please exclude caches, thumbnails, etc. from the backup?
It could also be a good idea to compress the .tar to save even more space.
