I’ve been doing some testing remotely and when I do direct stream (1080p) it buffers but when I do 720p it transcodes. Why would the direct stream buffer? Upload is around 10 mb/sec. Not that it matters but my download is 100 mb. Is the 10mb the problem for the direct stream?
Is that 10 Mbps the upload speed from the location where your server is? If so and your video is > 10 Mbps, then yes it will buffer.

your talking about the Bitrate right?
Yes. When the file is direct streamed, the file i sent using the same quality as the original. So if your original file has a bitrate of >10 Mbps, but your upload speed from your server is only 10 Mbps, then the file can’t be transferred fast enough. When you choose to transcode, you can lower the quality of the file that is sent so it doesn’t exceed your upload speed limit.
