I know this has been discussed on various topics, but none of the suggested configuration has helped me. My current setup is a QNAP TS-653B running latest PMS behind a pfSense firewall device, which has an OpenVPN client permanently connected. I’ve got a rule configured to send all plex.tv traffic from the QNAP via the (non-VPN) WAN interface, and a port forwarding rule for 32400 to go to the QNAP. I’ve confirmed that initiating traffic from the QNAP to plex.tv is not going via the VPN, and (as far as I can tell) incoming traffic on 32400 to my WAN interface is being routed to my QNAP. Despite this, I’m still unable to get Remote Access working.
For reference, I’ve followed the guide at How To Run Pfsense with PIA VPN, but still use Plex Remote Access..., along with my own firewall and networking knowledge.
Disconnecting the VPN client allows the port forwarding (and Remote Access) to work.
Would really appreciate any input from someone else who understands firewalls and the PMS Remote Access underlying network activity.
