Remote Access Failing

Hi all,

Yesterday i decided to upgrade my OS and re setup my Plex Server.
Straight away i noticed that Remote Access didnt seem to be working (going green then red)
I put this down to an incompatibilty between Plex and the OS so decided to rollback to the old version.
Having done this i’m still getting the same issue which having looked at the logs leads me to believe there is some sort of SSL Cert issue causing problems?

I can access the server remotely using my external IP which means its not a port forwarding issue or anything like that as far as i can tell

Server is running on Mac OS 12..7.6 (previously was using this no issues)

Server Version#:1.43.3.10828-00f62d37d
Heres a snippit from my log files

Maybe this will help…

Hi SE56,

Yeah this certainly seems to be the same issue I’m suffering

The fact I can connect using the direct IP tells me it’s not a networking issue.

Hopefully someone from Plex can help

@BigWheel can you help out

The cert on your server is new. It was issued a few hours ago So i don’t think that itself is the issue.

What did you update it to? ( shouldn’t matter but I am curious)

Can you grab the full server log zip file. You can message them to me if you don’t want to post them here. ( click on my username/avatar)

Thanks bud,
Have messaged you the logs

I updated to Mac OS Sequoia but have dropped back to Monterey again now.

Seems like it is trying to use a cached cert instead of the one that was newly assigned to it.

Can you stop/quit the server from running. On you mac go to ~/Library/Caches/PlexMediaServer/ and delete the cert-v2.p12 file and then start your server up again.

OK so I didn’t have that exact cert file in there…

Deleted the whole Plex media Server folder in Caches and it seems to be ok now

Thanks @BigWheel I’ll post here if I have anymore issues

Hi all,
I am experiencing the same issue on macOS. I have not made any changes to my configuration, and I am currently running the latest versions of both macOS and PMS. Remote access had been working flawlessly for several years, but it stopped functioning for me around the end of June.

Have you checked the port to ensure it’s still open? https://canyouseeme.org/

Follow steps laid out by @BigWheel to force a new certificate to download.

I deleted the whole ~/Library/Caches/PlexMediaServer/ Folder

Once i restarted the Server it was fine and has been solid as a rock since.

Yes, I followed all the advice already shared, which is why I posted here. Deleting only the certificate file was not enough—I had to delete the entire ~/Library/Caches/PlexMediaServer/ folder. Now everything works. Many thanks, guys

Glad to hear you got it working again :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:
