Using Debian 9, applicable to versions plexmediaserver_1.18.7.2457-77cb9455c_amd64 and plexmediaserver_1.18.8.2468-5d395aa9d_amd64, as well as a slightly older version plexmediaserver_1.18.0.1913-e5cc93306_amd64.
I updated from 1.17.0.1841-d42cfa161_amd64 to plexmediaserver_1.18.0.1913-e5cc93306_amd64 back when it was released figuring that all would be well. It was not. I had full access both remotely and locally, but every single one of my users had no remote access. I tried updating permissions, removing/readding users and nothing worked. I had to roll back.
I decided to try again for plexmediaserver_1.18.7.2457-77cb9455c_amd64 and that didn’t work either. I then tried the beta update plexmediaserver_1.18.8.2468-5d395aa9d_amd64 which supposedly fixed some iTunes plugin issue (which I didn’t have on) hoping that maybe it would be tangentially fixed by that. It wasn’t.
Hopefully, you’ll find this useful to solve this issue. Attached are logs with some test cases I had someone help me with so you could perhaps see something going wrong.
- An older user logging in and trying to access
- A brand new user that I added less than 15 minutes from updating logging in and trying to access
- My account locally playing on my internet (where the server is located)
- My account playing remotely from my phone (Android, can get the version number if necessary)
As soon as I’m done posting this, I’ll be rolling back to 1.17.0.1841-d42cfa161_amd64 as that seems to be last stable version I still have downloaded.
