Updating Plex Media Server remotely disables remote access

Everytime I update Plex Media Server, Plex’s remote access is disabled.

Also, once I have updated remotely, I cannot enable remote access remotely. I have to be on my home network.

I can’t postpone updates because I can only connect to my Plex Media Server when it is up-to-date.

This creates a frustrating situation. I have to be at home to update, or I will not be able to access my Plex Media Server remotely. If an update is released while I am not at home, I have no remote access at all, and have to wait until I am home.

Anyone have a solution? I spend two months a year away-from-home and would like to update Plex so I can still have access to my media.

Thanks!

Maarten

I cannot get Plex to find my IMAC

I downloaded the latest Plex version and in the left and column the top three icons say that they cannot find my mac system. The old Plex system ran perfect, That is my problem. The above problem was in error. Thanks.

Yes - the icons in yellow

is say “IMAC is currently unavailable”

thanks

I have the same problem as the OP. Any ideas why this loss of remote access keeps happening and how to fix it when it does? I resolved the issue last time by reinstalling Plex Media Server. I would really not like to have to keep doing that every time there is an update.

Thanks in advance.

Nevermind. Looks like the port forwarding got wiped out on my router and I have to re-do it. Not ideal but better than reinstalling the server.

thx
