It was working via the automatic / UPnP stuff until this morning. Where it has ■■■■ the bed and now cost me a day of trying to fix it and i swear i’m going crazy.
I tried turning off UPnP and reenabling it.
I tried turning on and off remote access
I’ve tried port forwarding about 20 different ways and nothing is working.
I’ve gone through and done literally everything in those 2 written guides and i swear if i get redirected there i’m going to lose it. Nothing in them is helping. I know i’m not on the dual NAT stuff
The only thing i could think is the problem is that the manual port forwarding isn’t working. The website “Canyouseeme.org” gives me the error “connection timed out”. Although it gives me that error regardless of what ports i test (Including the common ones like “80”) i’m unable to change the IP on that site to what Plex calls my “Private IP” to see if that would fix the issue. Under the assumption that “Canyouseeme.org” should work fine with the public IP it automatically uses. I’m left stumped at what the hell i’m meant to do.
I use a Netgear/Nighthawk AX1800 Router. The port forward thing is set upwith the external port at 32401, and internal set to 32400, with the IP set as my PCs IP (The one the server runs on)
I don’t understand what its issue is. I don’t know how to fix it. I don’t know why it stopped working via UPnP This morning when for the past 2 months there has been no issues.
I don’t think they are the same as the WAN IP for my router? If WAN is external i found that one for my router and it is different to what is shown under Plex’s Public IP and canyouseeme.org uses
That implies your ISP might be using a CGNAT setup, where they treat their environment as a private network instead of assigning a publicly routable IPv4 address to their customers.
If that’s the case, you can ask them for an exception.
Some ISPs will only do that by selling you a static IP address (at an extra charge) — though you don’t technically need that.
Sorry for the delay, i’ve just woken up. I’m looking at my router settings now, it shows the public IP under “Internet IP Address” and gives me a toggle to use “Get Dynamically from ISP” or “Use Static IP Address”
I’m wondering if i should just be able to select the “Use Static IP” then set the IP Address, IP Subnet Mask and Gateway IP Addresses and it just, i dunno? Work? (Not that i’m entirely sure what id have to change the subnet mask and gateway ip’s to but)
I have been using plex for a couple of years now and since last week I have had the same problem as you, exactly since the mobile app update, remote access has been giving me problems. I have done all the tests but I can’t solve it, it works for a while then nothing and I didn’t touch the server when the problems arose
Yeah i getcha. My biggest issue is having to do all this stuffing about, which may not even result in it working. When UNuP worked fine until yesterday morning.
I understand finding out now that CYNET thing is a problem for manual port forwarding but why i can’t i just continue using the auto setup thing Plex was using fine until now.
Static IP in my router does nothing. Presumably as i don’t have one given by my ISP, so the one i put in doesn’t work. The temp fix i have at the moment is using a VPN that supports port forwarding. Which now shows the port open and working via Canyouseeme.org and lets the server seemingly work? However of course at the cost of huge dips in quality due to the VPN not utilising my internet speed and i’ve got a report from my friend saying it still doesn’t work, and and from a family member that it does. The cost side of things also leads to this not being a super viable solution long term, especially for something that was and has been working fine up until yesterday.
Going to attempt getting a static ip from my ISP now, but i’m unsure i’ll be able to succeed.
Plex has not worked for me outside of my network since the update. I’ve checked all my settings and they are right. It’s also not seeing all of New media i add. Some are there, some just don’t show up. Very frustrating
controllate le porte che vengono aperte sul modem una volta avviato il server plex, mi sono ritrovato 2 porte UPnP aperte per lo stesso servizio Plex, ho eliminato lasciato solo la 32400 e adesso sta funzionando correttamente
The latest update has broken remote access. Many other topics has been created recently about this same issue. Others have said to roll back the client app to the previous version to get it to work
