Remote Access (through direct port forwarding) vs. Custom Server Access URL's (through a reverse proxy)

I can use both remote access and custom server access URL’s without any issues. When I use remote access, I have the custom server access URL’s field blank. When I have a custom server access URL, I disable remote access.

What happens when you have both enabled? Which one will take precedence? Will the secondary one server as a backup when the primary cannot be accessed by plex.tv?

If both are active, both are registered with the Plex cloud. Custom server access URLs are listed first.

Thanks for the clarification. That’s exactly what I was looking for.

On the same note, I just migrated from using remote access to custom server access url’s using SWAG yesterday. I thought all my remote users have no issues after the change but I have two Shield users that have my server listed in their left pane with an exclamation point. Signing out and signing in back to their account makes my server say on their end that it is not accessible.

I have a fire stick and also a shield that’s remote from the PMS with no issues so I can’t really recreate the issue. Any ideas why this is happening?

App.plex.tv doesn’t have any issues connecting to the PMS so I know it’s working.
