Remote access worked flawlessly, then didn't, then did again after reinstall, then didn't

Greetings.

My remote access was working flawlessly for just over a year or so, even up to over 400km away in 4K HDR. Then all of a sudden it stopped working well. A user reported constant buffering, and when it did play something for a couple seconds or so the quality was terrible. I hadn’t changed any settings. So I went through all the steps. Read all the articles here and followed all the advice. Posted on Reddit and followed the advice. Spoke with my ISP but it wasn’t an issue on their end. Nothing worked. Locally it was fine for the most part but even I had buffering on some 4K files in my household.

On the graph in the dashboard I would watch when one of my remote users would test with me, and it would spike up to a few mb then down to zero every second or so. They are using the Plex app on an LG TV. I tried this even with no apps or programs running on the computer except Plex.

I decided to reinstall Plex and everything was magically working again for about two weeks, and then back to the buffering. Still didn’t change any settings. Running it on windows 10 on an Alienware Aurora R7. Live in a large city with a massive amount of fibre bandwidth, so that isn’t an issue.

Any help would be welcome so I don’t have to reinstall again heh…

Thanks in advance.

Edit: I should add that I’m moderately techsavvy, so far as I’ve been having plex work just fine without too much tinkering out of the box (so to speak) and expected it to keep working like that with minimal input from myself other than adding content.

Same here, using plex remotely worked just fine and now, it buffers a lot on my LG TV. Up until a few days it was happening only on my LG TV but now happens on every device that is connected remotely (android phone and tablet, laptop). After looking into it, I discovered that plex doesn’t go beyond 25 Mbps for remote streaming, even though the machine and the connection are capable of 100 Mbps. Only series and movies that use less than 25 Mbps work properly. There are no settings on the plex server side, or the router to limit the speed.

I’m not even getting good remote quality on 25Mbps or less. Nothing is working remotely no matter the size. This is so frustrating. It works when I reinstall but not for long and I don’t have the patience to do that all the time.
