For the past week my parents have been unable to successfully stream any video remotely. They get constant buffering regardless of using apple tv, smart tv, or IOS.
Their local internet speed test confirmed 50Mb and other streams like netflix work fine.
I have no issues watching plex locally and I have 1Gig fibre up and down
My server has more than sufficient resources Win 10 I7 6700 32 GB ram. Nvidea GTX 1070.
What information is showing in the “now playing” tile for that playback on the Plex server dashboard for those remote streams (particularly interested to understand if they’re considered to be Remote or Indirect)? https://support.plex.tv/articles/200871837-status-and-dashboard/

Showing as remote. That is me on the left and my father on the right. We tried reducing the stream size (even though his speed test was good) and transcoding down to SD 1.5M still buffered. They have been using my plex without change of setup for 4-5yrs.

Yes I tried a number of different media and audi formats… Strangely Dad called yesterday to say it is all working. I can only assume a bad route perhaps from his isp to the relay server… Anyway I’ll close the ticket and hopefully no more issues…
