I noticed this a few weeks ago and the issue seems to be ongoing for me. Any outside device streaming shows as a LAN device with the IP address that reflects my router’s IP. I’m guessing because of this the outside streams can take as much bandwidth as they like as well. Is there something in my Plex setup that’s causing this or something in my router? I’m running DD-WRT as the firmware on my router.
I’ve never used ddwrt. Is it running a reverse proxy?
It looks like there’s a proxy involved there somewhere. If the external clients were properly accessing PMS via a forwarded port (or UPnP) on your router they’d be showing the true IP addresses. Do you have a VPN running anywhere in the mix?
I’m not running a VPN at all. I’m manually port forwarded in my router settings and not using the UPnP at all.
In that case I think the NAT rules are broken on your DD-WRT box. I’d pop over to their support forums and ask them. FWIW I’m using Openwrt (a “relative” of DD-WRT) with no problems. I think you just need your iptables rules tweaking.
