Remote streaming will be a Plex Pass feature

Maybe it was an “happy mistake” to make some uninformed users feel like they now have to pay. They need to revert the cahnge and cancel transactions asap.

Can we get a delay in the new pricing because of this?

Two of my managed home users just purchased Plex passes, even though the server owner has a license. That’s an extra $500 your company received, ironically because of this current very well-timed “glitch”

restart of server solved it for me. don’t know if that fix is permanent or not but for now at least

Note: If they are using the old app, it wouldn’t tell the users that they need the “Remote Watch Pass”, it would inform them they need to purchase something else. The “Remote Watch Pass” was invented purely with this new mobile app that enforces the remote view restriction.

The old app had a 1 minute playback limit unless not activated
The new app do not have this

Either a Plex Pass or a Remote Watch Pass is needed to remotely stream video from a Plex Media Server, unless the owner of that server has a Plex Pass

Right, and I have a Plex Pass, so my affected user shouldn’t be seeing this message in the app, correct?

Plex borked the paywall rollout. If your Home Users are having issues with remote playback, restart your PMS.

Can someone confirm if the Plex Relay service is still going to be an option for remote access if you have CGNAT? I just tested this and the new app is generating a Source Error message.
I have a Plex Pass.

I’m done. Hope it works out for ya. I don’t see how it can be interpreted any other way than malicious when you increase the price of the plex pass by a ridiculous amount, and then hit us with a removal of the only feature most of us care about.

As many others have mentioned, both with having to pay to connect and access my own library, the AWFUL new app and the mods here acting like fanatics and having the responses that they do. Funny to think several years back I wanted to actually purchase the Lifetime Plex Pass just to support Plex, THANK GOD that I didn’t, since I can never support something like this.

I have been a user from the very beginning - for over 15 years! And I have always defended PLEX against the accusations that the focus is simply on money and more money.
But now you’ve overstepped the mark!
And if you read here how indignant all users are, then you don’t have to be a prophet to foresee the further development - you will go under with your approach. And rightly so!
There are alternatives - a large proportion of your users have been using Jellyfin in parallel for a long time - and most of them are at least as good as Plex- and free.

It’s a real shame to see the fanaticism and gaslighting. Hopefully the community comes together to create some 3rd party fixes because we are certainly on our own now.
