Please add an option when sharing your libraries with remote users for “allow managed users”. I have a library shared with someone who wants parental controls on the content, but they can’t create a parental controlled “managed user” that can still access the share content.
Even with making the kid their “own plex account” and sharing the library to that account, and then adding them as a Home User, you can’t apply parental controls to main accounts.
There’s already an existing feature suggestion discussing an option to share content with managed users or let shared media be made available to managed users. I suggest you comment/vote in that thread in order to avoid distracting or cannibalizing votes.
Unless I’m missing some unique aspect of your suggestion I’ll close this thread as a duplicate.
Well… as some posts in the other thread point out, it’s not as simple as it might seem.
Some users aren’t comfortable if you extend the access they granted to you to others. Especially if they have no means to know if you’re using managed users and the concept of the Plex Home as intended or “just filled it up with friends they don’t know”. I suppose that’s all topics which can be addressed… just saying this might be a contributing factor why it hasn’t been done yet.
There’s a number of suggestions where it comes to re-sharing or making libraries “widely available” where Plex have commented cautiously about wanting to avoid the impression to be another large-scale file sharing platform.
In any way… thanks for adding your voice in the main thread.
I’ll close this one now.
