I have a few family that live outside my home base. All of them have decent networks (300mbps or higher) but some video’s that are in 1080p or 4k are getting transcoded down to 720p. I have double checked my server settings and I think all is good, any thoughts.
Basically, all clients BY DEFAULT self-restrict to about 2 MBPS speed (which is 720p) for any remote video stream. They need to go into their own player and remove this limit before they will automatically choose the video original speed.
In the Plex-for-windows, the setting would be here:
For TV-based apps, they go to settings and look for this:
The option in the upper right of that pic (labeled “Maximum Remote Qu…”) is what needs to be changed to “Maximum”
