Would like the feature to be able to set a minimum transcoding resolution for remote stream - for example, 4k movies will only be able to transcode to 1080p 10Mbps and no less
I see the option for “Limit remote stream bitrate” for remote stream so the above would also be good.
So playback should be forbidden/fail if the client doesn’t have the necessary bandwidth?
I don’t quite understand the reasoning for this.
Most clients are either 4k or 1080p so no need to be less as the bandwidth is available,
Just the opposite of “Limit remote stream bitrate” to say 10Mbps per stream, So have the option to set the minimum bitrate of a remote stream from this server.
Stopping people watching things in 3Mbps 720p, When they are capable of higher. but don’t want to have a 4k and 1080p version of everything.
I suppose you might want to look at this existing feature suggestion which is discussing options to limit streaming from the server by e.g. limiting the quality options or disable transcoding for certain clients/formats entirely.
