I have a TS-431 which has PLEX 1.16.6 installed and QPKG package PMSLIBShare installed. This has created a Shared Directory called PLEX. I had reasons for using this combination in the past but the newer versions of PLEX have made that redundant.
However, I cannot upgrade to the latest PLEX sourced Sever Version as it fails either with compatible configuration or I am not able to add or modify a Library.
I have a large number of movies (2500 in one folder and 600 split between two other Libraries.
I would like to remove PMSLibShare (which is installed under USER “Admin” in order to upgrade (I am running at the current QNAP sourced version of PLEX for the TS-431.
I do not want to lose the current curated metadata as rebuild of the large library takes around 3 days. I have a low speed internet connection and during Scan of the large library CPU can run at 90%-100% yet Internet access from the Plex application is very, very low in comparison to the available bandwidth.
Any advice and guidance.
Server Version#: 1.16.6
Player Version#: Played Mainly on Apple TV but playback is not a performance issue.
Thank you.
1 I remove PMSLibShare.
2 Then I delete Shared folder Plex but do not delete the data.
To me step 2 leaves the data on the hard drive but not associated with a Shared drive. If that is the case then how is Plex going to be able to see the Metadata? Where will it reside? How can I access that data?
I apologize for being obtuse. Does it mean that I do not have to delete PLEX and PLEX will be aware of where the meta data resides?
It seems that all PMSLibShare does is use the PLEX shared folder to point to the data it does not actually contain data. Yes or No.
My current version (downloaded from the QNAP App Store does not create a Plex Database.
I have tried downloading direct from PLEX for my version but got errors which I am guessing are related to the redirection provided by PMSLibShare.
On my TS-453 I am running PLEX 1.23.4 but it still has the PLEX shared folder that was created by PMSLibShare. It does not have a folder created by PLEX. I used to have PMSLibShare but I cannot remember deleting it. The TS-453 has a Shared Folder caled "Plex"but not a shared folder called “PlexData”. The shared folder “Plex” is pretty much useless for metadata backup.
OK, I will try to follow your steps 1 & 2 and see what difference that makes. I am about 24 hours away from correcting all file names so that they correctly reference The Movie Database movie names (I have previously used IMDB to resolve differences or manually corrected).
If all goes wrong it will only take 3 days to rebuild.
Yes, I tried that but it did not work.
I had: “moviename (year) {imdb - tt9999999} - notes on movie.mkv”
But it did not seem to pick it up.
I will try again but I only really need if I cannot find using the TMDB Agent. Sometimes that agent gets confused and returns a not found but if I try a few times it works 99.9% of the time. In 2,800 movies I have only had to hard code 1 or 2.
The problem is that the years in IMDB and TMDB may sometimes be different…
Thanks anyway for your support…
