I have just confirmed that changing the name of media item folders (even with just adding a year at the end of an existing name for example) I have found that Plex then has to go back through and completely rescan every media file for intros and credits.
Renaming files/folders should not trigger this massive resource intensive scan to run. This is massively inefficient and causes my server to work for hours/days to re-scan all items due to the size of my library.
Plex should be using a better method to track that it has records of this for items by using something like a hash of the file and checking that it is the same file instead of assuming it needs to be scanned.
