Renaming TV show files makes plex thing they are double length

So this is an annoying one. I mass renamed all of my TV files so specials would show up correctly, then rescanned my library. Unfortunately, plex now thinks every single TV episode is twice its actual length. It will play the episode, then immediately replay it basically. So it seems like it has duplicated every TV episode for some reason! Note there is only a single file on disk for each episode, it was just renamed.

I’ve tried many things and nothing seems to fix it. I think I will have to delete the library and readd it, but of course that will destroy all my metadata.

Is there any way to fix this?

I just had a thought. Maybe it’s related to the fact that I’m hard linking the files in the plex library to the originals? So even though I renamed that link, plex still knows about the original file? Just a guess. I wouldn’t expect this though, I’d expect plex to just reference the filename.

Okay, simply removing the folder from the library and adding it back seems to have fixed it, without losing my metadata. Hooray.
