This is a continuation of this thread:
I am setting streams to Repeat. When reaching the end of the stream, the stream does not repeat as configured and plays another stream instead. Sending logs to @sa2000 in a DM.
Note that when I first encountered it, there was a 33% SPINNER OF DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM encountered along with this issue, but that does not appear to be happening here.
@Mike-E can you describe the scenario in a bit more detail so we can try to replicate it? e.g. are you playing a movie, show, album, track, etc and are you setting the repeat option to repeat or repeat one?
Great! Thank you for looking into this @ljunkie. The easiest way to replicate this is by playing a playlist and setting an item in that playlist to repeat, either once or forever. Fast forward to the end of the selection, and let it end. You should see that it doesn’t repeat but plays another item instead.
What’s interesting is that I tried this with an older clip in the playlist I am using to test this (and originally found it), and that appears to actually have repeated. But for every other clip that I have tried, neither the Repeat Once or Repeat Forever seems to work.
(I verified the problem still exists with 3 other clips in the playlist)
I did provide a recording with logs that demonstrate this issue. Are you able to see them OK? Please let me know if there is any further information I can provide and I will do my best to assist you.
I don’t have access to the recording or logs, as I think you may have DM’d outside of this thread. That may help isolate the issue.
Also note, the repeat options are lacking a good description. repeat is repeat all, meaning it will loop through the PQ (or in this case, the playlist) forever, not a single item. repeat one should repeat the singe item you have just viewed. Both of these repeat options should be indefinite, unless a playback failure occurs.
I’ll give it a shot with a playlist, which may be the trick to reproduce this.
Unfortunately, I was not able to try anymore yesterday as Plex was being used quite a bit so I could (did not ) want to interrupt.
However, I tried a few more times this morning, and knowing what I know now I see what happened.
Indeed, repeat one was interpreted as repeat once and if I select this item, the specific current clip gets repeated. This explains why some clips actually “worked” yesterday.
Selecting repeat repeats the entire playlist if I forward to the last few seconds of the last clip. If I do not have either of those selected and try the same, the playlist interface is once again shown instead.
So, this appears to be user error. Ideally, some text should be shown alongside the repeat options and/or selected option to let the user know how repeat and repeat one (not to be confused with repeat once are used).
In the meantime, we can let this forum thread be the documentation for others who may run into the same issue.
Thank you once again @ljunkie for taking the time here and getting me properly situated.
Since you have the hot hand here , please consider assisting with my two other outstanding items of note here with Plex:
