We lost our original HDHome Run due to a lightening strike. We have replaced the device with a new one and am wondering if there is a way to replace hardware the hardware without having to remove the existing DVR and recreate it.

Try to assign it the same local IP address as your old device had.
You may need to access your router’s settings and “reserve” an IP for it in the DHCP-related settings.
(the old IP should be visible in Settings - “Live TV & DVR”)
Then reboot the router first, then unplug and re-plug the HDHR, then restart the plex server.
Tbh deleting the DVR and adding it back really isn’t an issue. I have done it multiple times and you don’t lose any recording schedules or anything from my experience.
It just has to download the guide again which is fairly quick and non intrusive.
I have the new HDHome Run set to the same IP address. Every channel i tunnel tune says the following.
There was an unexpected error during playback. Please visit our forums if you continue to experience problems.
Just delete the DVR and add it back, that’s my two cents.
Yeah, I’m afraid that is the only option now.
