Hi

I’ve searched high and low for an answer to a problem I’ve had for a long time now and whilst I can find similar issues I haven’t managed to resolve my own. Seeing as it’s Christmas I thought I’d have another go and have resorted to asking you - the community - for help.

After a server update a long time ago I lost my tv tuner. I didn’t realise for a while and when I tried to re-add my tuner I couldn’t. It is an HDHomeRun and if I type in the IP address it is found (I’ve tried changing the IP address) and progresses through the wizard until the final stage where it reports “The device is in use with an existing DVR”

I don’t have database backups far enough back (nor would I want to restore them) to prior to the issue happening. It is clearly recognising the device id from previously but I can’t find a way for it to forget or be deleted.

A clean Plex install works fine but I have an enormous library, multiple users and saved play states and don’t see how I can’t fix this without a ground up rebuild. I’m happy to poke into the database and strip out the device if someone can point me to the right database/table.

I appreciate any help in this as it’s driving me mad!

Well, perseverance is a wonderful thing - and so is this forum!

I finally found what I was looking for:

the magic I had been missing was to:

Now let’s throw away everything related to the DVR/live TV feature:

DELETE FROM media_provider_resources

Note: I changed the table name to the correct one.

As soon as I restarted the Media Server it popped up with a message that it had found an HDHomeRun tuner!! Seconds later I was back in business.

I hope this helps someone else.
