I’ve been struggling for quite a while with disappearing external ass subtitles with mp4 files if seeking during playback. Trying to figure out under which circumstances they cause issues while using the web player.
And it seems to be a bug with the linux sever, because the windows server doesn’t have those issues.
I installed both linux and windows side by side using the same media, configured the web player option for “burn subtitles” to “only image formats” and used an mp4 files with external ass subtitles. As soon as you seek forward, the subtitles stop showing up completely, sometimes seeking some more would get the subtitles to reappear but that’s rather random.
While the windows server doesn’t have that issue at all, subtitles show up as soon as the follow up line is spoken.
I’ve tested it on multiple intel computers, VMs as well as an arm sbc with the same result. regardless if just installing the deb or using docker.
Having both windows and linux severs running at the same time, tied to the same account I was able to test both servers in the same tab and the linux one always has issues.
Would love someone on the team to look into it or someone in the community confirm they also experience it. It’s important to set the web player option for “burn subtitles” to “only image formats” and use an mp4 file with external ass subs and then just seek forward. mkv files don’t have that issue.
