REQUEST: Filter by Bitrate

Hi,

I am trying to setup optimised versions for bitrates over a certain amount, although I can sort by bitrate, I cannot filter by bitrate even when using custom filter, I only get the following items to chose from:

  • Title
  • Rating
  • Content Rating
  • Year
  • Genre
  • Collection
  • Director
  • Actor
  • Country
  • Date Added
  • Plays
  • Last Played
  • Unwatched
  • Resolution

I would really like this filter added on Plex media Server so I can setup optimised versions for all bitrates over a specified amount, therefore getting around the fact that my server cannot transcode over that set bitrate for remote streaming.

If you go to the desired library, say Movies, click on the listed items and Bit Rate should be there.

I can see the bitrate for each item, I want to setup a custom filter by bitrate above a specified amount, then setup ‘optimise’ for all items in this listed so Plex creates an optimised version for each of these items automatically including new items when added in the future.

The filter list does not contain bitrate, only the sort menu.

Any info on this request from Plex officials?

I’d like to get this filter setup as soon as possible.

I could setup optimised versions manually for each item over a certain bitrate and then, when this feature is added to Plex, setup the automatic version using the filter over a set bitrate, but then I won’t be able to remove the other versions without deleting them. Otherwise I would have a shed load of items under the optimised version manager rather than the automatic filtered list. Also if new items are added I would need to manually optimise.

I would very much like to see this feature as well, I have the same music saved as mp3, flac and alac and would like to be able to filter either by bitrate or even better by filetype.

For curating your library, there is one excellent plugin called ExportTools
Yes, it still functions. Make sure to read the instructions!
