Audiophiles and music nerds want to see the sample rate, bit depth and codec of their tracks so that can expunge the lossy MP3s in their collection in favour of lossless formats ![]()
Eg:
96khz 24 bit FLAC
Let’s do this - together, we can beat Roon!

Bonus points if it can be displayed on the currently playing track, either in the lowbar or the Now Playing screen:
+1 to the bitrate and depth in the now playing bar… This would be especially helpful if it shows what the play is actually playing, and not the source content.
I agree with this 100%. There are a lot of things I enjoy about using Plex for music playback. My biggest frustrations is the lack of easy access to this information and no way to filter tracks by sample rate/bit depth.
Really hope Plex can add this functionality in.
New Plex apps for Mac and PC - and still no ability to see bit depth, sample rate or codec. Come on fellas!
Would be great because on my nas I have always mixed wav am mp3 and in Plex there is no,way to differ between the two birates, everything is displayed twice.
+1 for this!. Plexamp shows song source bitrate, type. Need desktop web version to show, sort, allow search criteria based on source bitrate. This allows to discern between mutilple same albums at different bitrates, ie. prefer to play FLAC 24bit over mp3 source.
Howdy Plex Team - any update on this?
