[Request] MUSIC Library, album type addon

I have a huge collection of music (as more should have)
Some artists does have 50+ albums and i think it would be a nice option for deeper sort of the albums.

Many artist doe shave more than only studio albums, they also have singles and live albums.
So we will have a next level in the category of the artist (where now are show all the albums including singles etc)

I’d like to see (and i’m sure more PSA Users with me) in the future the option to sort the albums in the artist folder like:

Dire Straits —> Studio Albums —> Making Movies
> Love Over Gold
>…
Live Albums —> On The Night
> …
Singles —> Calling Elvis
> …
Other —> Best Of, 4cd Bootleg
> …

I think the best way to get this extra feature, there will be an option by editting the album there will be an option eg. “Album Type” where users can put te type of album. Just like “collection” at movies library.

With this feature, users can sort their music deeper.

In my case i’d like to sort the music per artist like this;

-> Studio Albums
-> Live Albums
-> Singles
-> Other
-> Tape Albums (Yes i, also have tapes encoded to mp3)
-> Vinyl Albums (just like tapes)

I’ll hope you’ll understand my bad English (i’m Dutch)

MusicBrainz (the database Plex does online matching with) has a field for release type, so I would think this is on the radar somewhere. The internal Plex database doesn’t have a field for it yet though, and of course the UI on all the clients would have to be reworked.

It would be nice if MusicBrainz (or similar) will be supported in the future.

Early 2021 clean-up: duplicate
