[Request] Option to Restrict Friends/ Additional Users, to Local Access Only.

Another option could be to use the new label feature.  Since it is a whitelist, you can add a label to 1 file and restrict the user to just that 1 file.  The 1 file could even be a short video saying "You cannot use my Plex accept when visiting, so come on over".  When you want to give them access, change the restriction back to all.

I’m assuming some of you guys are tech savvy. Would this feature request would be simple to implement?

MovieFan,

It's a shame we can't just "suspend" users on the server and be done with it.  But this is as close to that (for this purpose) as you will get.  I like it.

I think there is a feature request for that too.

Im +1 on this. The more feature rich this ability is the better.

+1 on this.

It’s really quite simple, when you share your server with a friend or for Plex Home (I don’t care, really), there should be an option below the library/tag restriction to also “Restrict to local network only”. Please add this feature, it’s not complex.

This way I can share with friends and roommates and it’ll only work while they’re on the local network. Changing the sharing doesn’t work because on a given day they could be at home, at work, or at a friend’s place.

Does anyone know if this is currently possible / any workarounds or plugins to do this?

A request for the same feature exists now, which has more votes.

Therefore this one is closed.
