It would be very convenient if the Linux Plexamp (which I guess is Elektron-based, so this might benefit other platforms?) put the focus in the text entry box when you went to the search tab.
Agreed 100%, I was just noticing this the other day.
Why only the Linux version?
The current behaviour is intended.
Watch what vanishes when you focus the search field.
I said the Linux version because that’s what I use. I’m not sure if search works the same on other desktops, but I did want to be clear that I wasn’t talking about the mobile version. (On iOS, clicking the search tab puts the focus in the search box.)
I did say that the change might be relevant for all desktops because I think it’s an Elektron app. But I don’t know.
I don’t see anything disappear when I put focus on the search box. Aural Fixations and my recent searches stay there, which is what I expect.
Everything disappears and Aural Fixations and Recent Searches appear.
But I do not see how needing to click the search field to actually enter search text is helpful.
If focus was in the search field I could still interact with those other items with one click.
If the way it is now is obviously superior I am prepared to be wrong on the Internet today.
Thanks for a laugh!
I think you’re actually right, there wouldn’t be a downside to doing it the way you say.
It’s OK to be wrong on the Internet, but being right is better. ![]()
