this may be a mute point since plex not only casn’t keep peoples servers running, actually help people, but now as more and more apps are getting a way from using the tvdb they are more heavily relying on it. have to really wonder about the devs.

I’m new to plex but this was the first thing I tried to fix on my set up before realizing it couldn’t be done. When I sort my 1750 movies using genre - 1200 are listed as action adventure - making scrolling through my movies time consuming. I’m not saying they couldn’t be considered action adventure I don’t think of ANTZ, The Spy Who Shagged Me, Happy Feet, The Hobbit, The Man Who Knew Too Little etc. as those. (Animation, Comedy, Animation, Fantasy, Comedy). I have a Bond and SuperHero (marvel/dc) category to help speed the search.

Curious that you can set a poster/image for Photo photos but not for other types,
Should be a universal feature for all folder views no?
It’s ugly as hell with a sea of small grey folder icons on my big screen TV.

DITTO I would also add that Collections once created should also automatically create a separate library just for collections like Emby does.

I started using plex around 4 years ago and i already saw this thread from 2014 with a lot of votes.
As with J English, I also want to use it for my sports media library.
Why is it so difficult for the devellopers to have the grey on black square folder icons in folder view being replaced by a folder.jpg whenever plex finds a folder.jpg inside the directory, where it has found a media item?
Of course it might be even cooler to be able to have an rolling animation by either having multiple sequentially named folder_1.jpg, folder_2.jpg, folder_3.jpg or even to have a video sequence being played if a user stores not a folder.jpg, but a folder.mpg to the directory.
Please guys, make it happen!

Maybe 11 years waiting for this feature isn’t long enough.
