Reruns showing as NEW

Hi I have a DVR question what does plex use to decide if a show is “NEW” or a rerun? I have alot of shows being recorded that are not new because plex is not detecting them as reruns?

I believe the piece of data that determines new or rerun comes from the guide data. If something is marked as being new in the guide, Plex will see it as such. It’s only as reliable as the data it receives.
